Accounting Specialist

The Accounting Specialist (AP / AR / Bank Reconciliations) will support the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, with primary responsibility for accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations. This role is critical to ensuring accurate cash activity, timely vendor payments, effective collections, and clean balance sheet support for month-end close.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced services environment where accuracy, follow-through, and process discipline are essential. This role will work closely with the fractional CFO and broader operations team.

Key Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices accurately and timely, ensuring proper approvals and documentation

• Prepare and execute weekly AP payment runs (ACH, checks, wires)

• Maintain vendor records and respond to vendor inquiries

• Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on time

• Apply customer payments and maintain accurate AR records

• Monitor AR aging and support collections efforts

• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations

• Investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly

• Maintain clean supporting schedules for cash and clearing accounts

• Support month-end close activities through the completion of recurring journal entries

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• 4+ years of experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support role

• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Experience in a services-based or professional services organization

• Familiarity with month-end close processes

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Clear written and verbal communication skills
