Job description

**This is a direct‑hire position with our client. The role is open to candidates local to the Hartford, CT area, or remote/hybrid with monthly travel to Hartford. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.**

The Business Intelligence Developer partners with business and IT teams to turn data into actionable insights, support reporting and analytics, and advance the organization’s evolution toward AI‑driven decision making. This role focuses on modernizing BI capabilities while maintaining the value of existing reporting and dashboards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain BI reports and dashboards that support business decision making

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand key questions and define analytical requirements

  • Translate reporting needs into scalable data and analytics solutions

  • Support the evolution from traditional BI reporting toward AI‑ and chatbot‑driven insights

  • Analyze existing reports and address technical and data quality debt

  • Collaborate with IT, development, and project management teams

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve reporting, analytics, and data workflows

Technical Environment

  • AWS data services such as Glue, Athena, Redshift, DynamoDB, and S3

  • BI and visualization tools including AWS QuickSight and Microsoft Power BI

  • Data lakehouse architecture supporting centralized, governed analytics

  • ETL and data pipeline development aligned with enterprise data standards

  • AI‑enabled analytics and experimentation to augment or replace traditional dashboards

  • Source control and development practices using tools such as Git

Qualifications

  • Experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or analytics roles

  • Ability to work directly with business users to understand data needs and priorities

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

  • Experience creating reports, dashboards, or data visualizations

  • Comfort working in a fast‑moving, evolving environment

Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Experience with AWS‑based BI or data platforms

  • Hands‑on experience with Power BI, QuickSight, or similar tools

  • Exposure to AI, data strategy, or advanced analytics initiatives

  • Ability to think beyond static reports toward proactive insights and automation

  • Experience working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

  • Construction, engineering, or industrial industry exposure
