Job description
**This is a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients for a fully remote position. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without the need for sponsorship.**
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Database Engineer to join our client’s team. In this role, you’ll work with a team of engineers to build and maintain web-based, cloud-hosted software and oversee the production data systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL Server, cloud infrastructure, DevOps principles, and platform architecture, with a passion for coaching and mentoring others. If you have a solid foundation in T-SQL, enjoy working in a collaborative environment, and are eager to lead data-driven projects, this position is for you.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a team of engineers to develop, deploy, and maintain cloud-hosted software
- Lead and manage production data systems with a focus on reliability and performance
- Implement DevOps practices to enhance CI/CD workflows, utilizing tools like GitHub and Jenkins
- Architect platform solutions with a comprehensive understanding of cloud environments (preferably AWS)
- Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and growth
- Communicate effectively across teams, providing clear insights and technical guidance
- Drive independent projects from planning to execution, ensuring alignment with business objectives
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in web-based, cloud-hosted software development in a team setting
- 5+ years of experience with T-SQL and SQL Server
- Proven experience managing production data systems
- Strong understanding of cloud environments and site reliability, particularly AWS, DataDog, and DPA
- Solid knowledge of CI/CD processes and tools, including GitHub and Jenkins
- Proficiency in multiple coding languages (e.g., C#, Python, PowerShell)
- Broad knowledge of platform architecture and best practices
- Familiarity with MongoDB or other data storage solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative on projects
