Emergent Software is seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Key responsibilities include managing employee engagement, administering benefits, processing payroll, and ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple states. Human Resources Generalist Primary Duties

  • Employee Engagement and Reporting: Manage the employee feedback process through regular surveys and other data collection methods. Monitor key HR metrics such as turnover rates, hiring costs, and employee satisfaction. Report insights to our management team to support strategic decision-making.
  • Benefits Administration: Annually review and select employee benefits packages that best align with our organizational goals. Manage and administer all aspects of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, COBRA, 401(k), and leave policies. Serve as the first point of contact for the team regarding any benefits-related inquiries or issues.
  • Policy Development: With support from our leadership team, update and implement HR policies and procedures that reflect our core values and promote an efficient, secure, and positive workplace culture.
  • Payroll Administration: Run monthly and off cycle payrolls including the calculation of regular and variable compensation.
  • Month End Time Reporting: Assist in the oversight of time entry and month end project reporting.
  • State Registration & Administration: Register Emergent Software for payroll tax, sales tax, secretary of state, etc. in each state with Nexus as required by Rippling and our accounting team.
  • Regulatory Compliance: With support from Rippling HR Experts, ensure compliance with employment laws across the federal, state, and local levels, particularly as a fully-remote company operating in over 20 states.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a confidential point of contact for employees to discuss issues, questions, or ideas outside of their direct management channels.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding: Manage the orientation of new team members and the integration or exit processes for employees and contractors across operational systems, benefits, and rewards programs.
  • Company Spend & Expense Management: Oversee company credit cards and expense reimbursements.
  • Training Management: Organize and administer ongoing cross-functional (not role-specific) employee training programs.
  • Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Management: Oversee our EEO program, including tracking and reporting on progress to government agencies.
  • Event Planning Support: Assist in organizing our annual in-person employee event, Emergent Connect, in collaboration with our leadership team and event coordinator.

Human Resources Generalist Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Employee Relations: Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with experience handling sensitive employee relations issues discreetly and effectively.
  • HR Policy Development: Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Experience ensuring compliance to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, especially as applicable to remote workforces across multiple states.
  • Benefits Administration: Experience in managing employee benefits programs, including annual benefits selection and administration.
  • Experience Running Payroll: Hands-on experience with payroll processing, including handling variable compensation and ensuring accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Spreadsheets: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel or similar tools.
  • Basic Accounting Knowledge: Understanding of income statement, balance sheet, and general ledger.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Microsoft Office 365 Skills: Proficiency in using Office 365 applications beyond Excel, such as PowerPoint for presentations and SharePoint for document management.
  • Experience in a Technology Consulting Firm: Experience working in HR within the technology consulting industry, understanding its unique challenges and demands.
  • Rippling HRIS Experience: Familiarity with Rippling HRIS platform; experience with other HR Information Systems (HRIS) is also beneficial.
  • Training and Development: Experience in designing and implementing training programs across various teams.
  • Recruitment and Staffing: Experience in staffing and recruitment processes, particularly in liaising with staffing agencies.
  • Event Planning Experience: Skills in planning and coordinating corporate events, which would be useful for managing company-wide gatherings.
  • Advanced Accounting Knowledge: Double entry, accrual-based accounting knowledge including experience creating journal entries.

  • Medical Insurance: up to 80% of your monthly medical premium (HSA options available)
