** This is a 12-month contract opportunity with our client in Fishers, IN. Some travel will be required to Champaign, IL, and other locations, particularly at the beginning of the assignment. Local or nearby candidates are preferred, though remote candidates will be considered. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. **

We are seeking a POS Solutions Architect to lead a high-impact Point-of-Sale modernization initiative. This role will serve as the technical lead for transitioning from legacy POS systems to a modern, scalable platform. The Solutions Architect will oversee data cleanup, migration planning, and system integration, while ensuring seamless deployment across multiple locations. You will work closely with IT, Operations, and vendor partners to design robust solutions that drive long-term success, accuracy, and security.

Responsibilities

Legacy System Assessment & Cleanup

  • Analyze existing POS systems/databases to identify key data elements, customizations, and dependencies.

  • Lead data cleanup and rationalization of legacy records, tables, and configurations.

Data Mapping & Migration

  • Define and map customer, transaction, product, and membership data for migration into the new platform.

  • Create data migration frameworks ensuring accuracy, consistency, and system performance.

  • Partner with IT teams to design and implement secure migration pipelines.

Solution Design & Integration

  • Provide architectural guidance to ensure POS aligns with enterprise systems (CRM, ERP, APIs, reporting, loyalty programs).

  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to design integrations and workflows.

  • Document technical dependencies, configurations, and long-term architectural decisions.

Governance & Compliance

  • Establish guardrails for product, SKU, and pricing structures across the POS environment.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and transparent customer-facing experiences.

  • Maintain documentation and version control of all POS structures and changes.

Operational Alignment

  • Partner with Operations, IT, and project teams to ensure POS workflows support daily business needs.

  • Translate complex technical processes into clear, business-friendly requirements.

Deployment & Post-Launch Support

  • Define pilot readiness milestones and rollout checkpoints.

  • Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) and provide troubleshooting guidance.

  • Travel as needed to support rollouts and ensure successful adoption.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience architecting or implementing POS solutions.

  • Strong technical background in SQL, database management, and data migration.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead system conversions and integrations.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience bridging technical and business teams.

  • Willingness to travel during rollout phases.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with DRB Sitewatch or other POS systems.

  • Familiarity with enterprise integrations (ERP, CRM, APIs, reporting tools).
