**This is a 6+ month contract position with the possibility of full time hire with one of our clients. This is a hybrid role in the Minneapolis- St. Paul metro, MN with in office expectations. Candidates must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.**

We are looking for a Product Owner to lead the development and optimization of technology solutions supporting mortgage loan acquisitions. This role focuses on systems and processes involved in the purchase, due diligence, onboarding, and delivery of closed loans. The ideal candidate brings strong secondary market expertise and experience with loan acquisition systems, driving scalable, compliant, and data-driven solutions. The ideal candidate is proactive and self-directed and comfortable with frequent context switching while having strong follow-through and ownership mindset.

Primary Duties 

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for mortgage acquisitions platforms

  • Translate loan purchasing, due diligence, and onboarding needs into prioritized product features

  • Improve acquisition speed, data quality, and investor delivery outcomes

  • Support bulk and flow loan purchases, including correspondent lending workflows

  • Ensure systems support eligibility review, data validation, stacking, and exception management

  • Align product capabilities with Agency and Non‑Agency / Non‑QM investor guidelines

  • Embed regulatory and investor requirements into product design

  • Drive automation of pre‑ and post‑purchase credit, collateral, and compliance reviews

  • Enhance tracking of defects, stipulations, and loan‑level exceptions

  • Serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders and development teams

  • Write and manage user stories, participate in sprint ceremonies, and validate delivered solutions

  • Collaborate with acquisitions, capital markets, servicing onboarding, compliance, and IT teams to align product outcomes with business goals

Required Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of mortgage secondary market, loan acquisitions, or correspondent lending

  • Hands-on experience with Loan Acquisition Systems (LAS), such as LauraMac or similar platforms

  • Experience with loan purchase and due diligence systems

  • Agile/Scrum experience with ability to translate business needs into technical requirements

Nice to Have Experience 

  • Experience with loan acquisition platforms, due diligence tools, or document classification systems

  • Familiarity with Non-Agency / Non-QM loan products, including alternative income documentation and investor overlays

  • Knowledge of agency guidelines (FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA)

  • Experience with ULDD, data mapping, and system integrations

  • Exposure to AI/ML-driven solutions (e.g., document recognition, data extraction, workflow automation) within mortgage or fintech environments

  • CSPO or similar certification
