Job description
**This is a direct-hire position with our client at a fully remote company. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.**
We’re looking for a Senior Database Engineer to help guide how data is designed, managed, and used across a cloud-based SaaS platform. This role partners closely with engineering and infrastructure teams to build reliable, scalable systems that support product development and long-term growth. While some ETL work exists, the focus is on data strategy, platform health, and smart decision-making around data architecture.
Responsibilities
Lead and influence how production data systems are designed, managed, and improved
Partner with engineering and cloud infrastructure teams to support a modern SaaS platform
Make thoughtful data architecture decisions with a bias toward action
Improve reliability, performance, and scalability of data systems
Support DevOps workflows related to data, including CI/CD and monitoring
Coach and mentor engineers across platform and product teams
Contribute to a collaborative, remote-first engineering culture
Qualifications
10+ years building web-based, cloud-hosted software in a team environment
5+ years working with T-SQL and SQL Server
Hands-on experience managing production data systems
Strong understanding of cloud environments and site reliability concepts
Experience with DevOps practices and tools such as CI/CD pipelines and source control
Familiarity with at least one general-purpose programming language
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-directed and comfortable working independently in a remote setting
Preferred Skills
Experience with AWS-based environments
Familiarity with monitoring and performance tools
Exposure to AI or agent-based approaches to working with data
Broad understanding of modern platform architecture
Passion for coaching, mentoring, and leveling up teammates
